Screen Replacement Service

Professional Window & Door Screen Replacement

A torn or missing screen is more than an annoyance โ€” it lets in mosquitoes, gnats, flies, and outdoor allergens while blocking ventilation. It also signals to buyers that a home hasn’t been maintained. Screen replacement is one of the fastest, most cost-effective exterior improvements you can make.

NorTech handles all types: window screens, storm door screens, sliding glass door screens, French door screens, and screen porch or pool enclosure panels. We either rescreen your existing frame with new mesh โ€” the most cost-effective option when the frame is sound โ€” or replace the full assembly when the frame itself is bent, warped, or corroded.

We carry fiberglass, pet-resistant, and solar screen mesh on every truck. Most single-visit jobs are completed same day. Written estimate before any work begins.

What We Replace

Every Type of Window & Door Screen We Service

From single window screens to full screen enclosures โ€” here’s every screen type we handle and what the service covers.

Window Screens

Standard single and double-hung window screens, casement window screens, and fixed screens. We rescreen existing aluminum or fiberglass frames or supply replacement frames for windows where the original is damaged or missing.

Rescreen or full replacement

Sliding Glass Door Screens

Sliding door screens come off track, lose rollers, or tear at the corners from repeated contact. We re-hang derailed screens, replace worn rollers, rescreen torn panels, or fit a new full sliding screen door assembly when the frame is beyond repair.

Track, roller & mesh repair

Storm Door Screens

Most storm doors use interchangeable glass and screen inserts. We replace the screen insert panel, rescreen an existing insert frame, or fit a compatible replacement insert. Common sizes carried on the truck.

Insert replacement or rescreen

French Door & Double Door Screens

French doors and double doors often use retractable screen systems or individual panel screens per door leaf. We replace retractable screen cartridges, rescreen fixed panel frames, and install new screen solutions where none previously existed.

Retractable & panel systems

Screen Porch & Patio Enclosures

Individual screen bays in porch frames can be replaced without touching the surrounding structure. We cut and tension new mesh into the existing framing using spline and a rolling tool โ€” the same technique used in original construction.

Panel-by-panel rescreen

Pool Enclosure Screens

Pool cage screens in Florida and coastal states take constant UV exposure, wind, and debris impact. We replace damaged panels using 18×14 fiberglass or 20×20 no-see-um mesh depending on your insect control needs. Individual panels or full cage sections.

18×14 and 20×20 mesh available

Which Screen Mesh Type Is Right for Your Home?

Not all screen mesh is the same. The right choice depends on your climate, pets, insect pressure, and whether heat and glare are a concern.

Fiberglass Standard

The most common screen mesh. Flexible, resists creasing, and will not oxidize. Works on any window or door. Best for general-purpose replacement when pets and high insect pressure are not factors.

On every truck
Aluminum Mesh

More rigid than fiberglass and holds its shape better in high-wind areas. Resists denting and puncture better than standard fiberglass. Can oxidize over time in coastal environments. Good choice for areas with frequent strong winds.

Available on request
Pet-Resistant Mesh

Heavier-gauge vinyl-coated polyester โ€” approximately 7x stronger than standard fiberglass. Resists claw damage from cats and dogs. Best upgrade for any household with pets that scratch at screens. Costs more but outlasts standard mesh significantly.

On every truck
Solar Screen Mesh

Tighter weave that reduces solar heat gain and glare while maintaining outward visibility. Blocks 65โ€“80% of solar heat at the screen before it reaches the glass. Good choice for south- and west-facing windows in hot climates.

On every truck
No-See-Um Mesh

Very fine weave (20×20 or tighter) that blocks tiny biting insects that pass through standard 18×14 mesh. Common for pool enclosures and screen porches in Florida and coastal states. Reduces airflow slightly due to the tighter weave.

Available on request
Security / Stainless Steel

Woven stainless steel mesh in a rigid frame โ€” impact and cut resistant. Used for high-security applications or in areas with extreme insect or debris pressure. Requires specialty ordering and is quoted separately.

Rescreen vs. Replace

Should You Rescreen the Frame or Replace the Whole Screen?

The answer depends on the condition of your existing frame. Here’s how we evaluate it on every job.

Rescreen the Existing Frame

  • Frame is straight with no bends or warps
  • Corner keys are intact and tight
  • No corrosion or structural damage
  • Spline channel is clean and usable
  • Most cost-effective option
  • Same-visit completion in most cases

Replace the Full Assembly

  • Frame is bent, bowed, or warped
  • Corner keys are broken or missing
  • Frame is corroded or structurally weak
  • Spline channel is damaged beyond use
  • Screen has been rescreened multiple times
  • Better long-term investment for old frames

What Affects the Cost of Screen Replacement?

Screen replacement is one of the more straightforward exterior services to price โ€” but a few factors still affect your quote.

A single screen rescreen is a 15โ€“30 minute job. Whole-home projects covering 10โ€“15 windows plus doors can take a half to full day. Per-screen cost decreases on larger jobs since setup and drive time are shared across more units.

Rescreening an existing usable frame costs less than supplying and fitting a new frame assembly. If multiple frames need full replacement, material cost is added to the labor quote. We always use the most cost-effective approach that results in a lasting repair.

Standard fiberglass mesh is the lowest-cost option. Pet-resistant, solar, and no-see-um mesh cost more per linear foot of material. The difference is modest on individual screens but adds up on whole-home or enclosure projects. We quote each mesh option so you can choose what fits your budget and needs.

Standard window screens are quick to rescreen. Large sliding door screens, oversized porch panels, or pool enclosure sections take more time and material. Specialty door systems like retractable French door screens involve more complexity and are priced accordingly.

If a sliding door screen needs new rollers, track adjustment, or a bent track section replaced in addition to rescreening, that adds labor and parts. We diagnose the full condition of every screen on-site and quote all required work before starting.

Every job starts with a full on-site diagnostic. You receive a complete written estimate before any work begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Window & Door Screen Replacement โ€” Common Questions

Straight answers on mesh types, frame assessment, sliding door screens, and what to expect.

NorTech replaces screens on windows, storm doors, sliding glass doors, French doors, and screen porches or enclosures. We rescreen existing frames with new mesh or replace the full screen assembly when the frame is damaged or bent. We carry standard fiberglass, aluminum, pet-resistant, solar, and no-see-um mesh on our trucks.

If the existing frame is straight, intact, and the corners are tight, we can rescreen it with new mesh โ€” this is the most cost-effective option. If the frame is bent, corroded, warped, or the corner keys are broken, replacement of the full frame assembly is the better solution. We assess every frame on-site and tell you which option makes sense before any work begins.

The most common screen mesh types are fiberglass (standard, flexible, resists creasing), aluminum (more rigid, durable in high-wind areas), pet-resistant (heavier-gauge vinyl-coated polyester that resists claw damage), solar screen mesh (reduces glare and heat gain while maintaining outward visibility), no-see-um mesh (very fine weave that blocks tiny insects), and stainless steel security screen (impact-resistant for high-security applications). We carry fiberglass, pet-resistant, and solar mesh on every truck.

A single window screen rescreen takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Replacing a sliding door screen takes 30 to 45 minutes. A whole-home rescreen covering 10 to 15 windows can typically be completed in one visit. Screen porch or enclosure projects vary by size and are quoted on-site.

Yes. Sliding door screens frequently come off track due to bent track, worn rollers, or a warped frame. We assess the track and rollers, replace worn components, re-hang the screen, and test it for smooth operation. If the screen mesh itself is torn, we rescreen it in the same visit.

Yes. Screen porch and pool enclosure rescreen is one of our most requested services, particularly in Florida and other southern states. We replace individual screen panels or sections without needing to replace the full frame structure. Pool enclosure work uses 18×14 or 20×20 mesh depending on insect control needs.

Pet-resistant screen is made from heavier-gauge vinyl-coated polyester that resists claw damage from cats and dogs. It is approximately seven times stronger than standard fiberglass mesh. For households with pets that scratch at screens, pet-resistant mesh is a worthwhile upgrade โ€” it costs more than standard mesh but significantly outlasts it in pet-heavy homes.

Yes. Most storm doors use interchangeable glass and screen inserts. We replace the screen insert panel, rescreen the existing insert frame, or if the insert frame is damaged, fit a compatible replacement. We stock common storm door screen insert sizes on our trucks.

NorTech carries standard fiberglass, pet-resistant, and solar screen mesh on every truck โ€” no need to supply your own for most jobs. For specialty mesh like stainless steel security screen or custom color mesh, we may need to source material before scheduling. This is confirmed during your quote.

Yes. All screen replacement work completed by NorTech is covered by our 1-year labor warranty. If a screen comes loose from the frame, the spline pulls out, or the mesh separates from improper installation within 12 months, we return and correct it at no charge.
