Our Fuel System Service Options
From a targeted injector clean to a full system flush with diagnostic scan โ every service is matched to your vehicle’s specific condition and symptoms.
Fuel Injector Cleaning
Carbon deposits and varnish removed from injectors using pressurized cleaning systems or chemical solutions, restoring full spray pattern efficiency and proper fuel atomization.
Throttle Body & Intake Cleaning
Detailed cleaning of the throttle body, air intake passages, and idle air control to remove carbon buildup that restricts airflow and destabilizes idle.
Professional Fuel System Flush
Pressurized cleaning of the entire fuel system โ injectors, fuel rail, lines, and pump โ using professional-grade equipment and high-detergent cleaning solutions.
Injector Bench Testing & Rebuild
Injectors removed and individually tested for flow rate, spray pattern, and electrical resistance. Seals and filters replaced as needed โ full rebuild performed if required.
Fuel Filter Replacement
Old or clogged fuel filter removed and replaced with a new OEM-quality or upgraded filter matched to your specific engine and fuel system requirements.
Full Fuel System Service
Comprehensive service combining injector cleaning, throttle body cleaning, fuel filter replacement, fuel pressure test, and a diagnostic scan โ complete system restore in one visit.
Pro Tip
Fuel injector cleaning and throttle body service are most effective when done together โ a clean injector delivering fuel through a carbon-restricted throttle body still underperforms. Pairing both services in one visit costs less than two separate appointments and delivers noticeably better results.
Signs Your Fuel System Needs Attention
These are the performance issues that signal your fuel system needs professional attention โ not just a bottle of additive from the parts store.
Decreased Fuel Economy
Clogged injectors deliver uneven, inefficient fuel spray โ your engine burns more fuel to produce the same power. A proper cleaning directly recovers lost MPG.
Rough Idle or Engine Surging
Carbon buildup on the throttle body and intake passages disrupts stable airflow at idle โ causing the engine to hunt for the correct RPM, surge, or shake at stops.
Hard Starts or Misfires
Restricted injectors can’t deliver adequate fuel during cold cranking or under load โ causing hard starts, hesitation, or outright misfires that trigger the check engine light.
Loss of Power & Throttle Response
Sluggish acceleration and reduced top-end power are direct results of restricted fuel delivery and poor combustion โ cleaning restores the throttle response your engine was designed for.
Excessive Exhaust Smoke or Emissions
Incomplete combustion caused by dirty injectors produces more unburned hydrocarbons โ leading to dark exhaust smoke and emissions test failures.
Carbon on Intake Valves
Direct-injection engines are particularly prone to carbon buildup on intake valves โ fuel no longer washes the valves clean on each cycle. Left untreated, this causes misfires and power loss.
Service Coverage โ Gasoline & Diesel
Fuel system needs differ between gasoline and diesel engines. We service both with the correct methods and equipment for each.
Gasoline Engines
Port & direct injection cleaning
Throttle body and intake carbon removal
Fuel rail and regulator inspection
Idle air control cleaning
Injector bench flow testing available
In-tank and inline fuel filter replacement
Diesel Engines
High-pressure common rail injector cleaning
Diesel fuel system flush
Fuel/water separator replacement
EGR and intake deposit cleaning

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about fuel system cleaning and injector services with NorTech.
How do I know if my injectors actually need cleaning?
The clearest indicators are reduced MPG, rough or uneven idle, sluggish acceleration, hard starts, or a check engine light with misfire or fuel trim codes. If your vehicle is past 30,000 miles and has never had injector service, it’s almost certainly due regardless of noticeable symptoms.
Is fuel system cleaning the same as using a bottle of injector cleaner from the parts store?
No. Bottle additives are diluted through a full tank of fuel โ they provide mild maintenance benefit for lightly deposits. Professional cleaning uses concentrated, pressurized chemical solutions applied directly to the injectors and fuel system, removing heavy carbon buildup that additives can’t touch.
Will I notice a difference after fuel system cleaning?
Most drivers notice improved throttle response, smoother idle, and better cold start behavior immediately after service. Fuel economy improvement typically becomes apparent over the following tank or two. Vehicles with heavy deposits see the most dramatic results โ lightly deposited vehicles see subtler but still measurable gains.
My vehicle is a direct injection engine โ are injectors harder to clean?
Direct injection (GDI) engines have two unique challenges: injectors spray directly into the combustion chamber rather than the intake port, and fuel no longer washes the back of intake valves โ causing heavy carbon buildup there. Both issues require different cleaning approaches. We’re equipped for both GDI injector cleaning and intake valve walnut blasting where applicable.
How long does fuel system service take?
A standalone injector cleaning or throttle body service typically takes 45โ60 minutes. A full fuel system service with diagnostic scan runs 60โ90 minutes. Injector bench testing and rebuild requires the injectors to be removed and processed off-vehicle โ we’ll give a specific time estimate during booking.
Can a dirty fuel system cause a check engine light?
Yes. Injector imbalance or restriction triggers lean/rich fuel trim codes and misfire codes โ both illuminate the check engine light. A fuel system service that resolves the underlying restriction often clears these codes. We run a post-service diagnostic scan to confirm the light is resolved before finishing.
How often should I schedule fuel system cleaning?
For most vehicles using standard fuel, a professional injector cleaning every 30,000 miles is sufficient. If you primarily use Top Tier certified fuel and your vehicle drives mostly highway miles, you may extend that to 45,000 miles. High-deposit driving conditions โ frequent short trips, ethanol-blend fuel, stop-and-go urban driving โ warrant more frequent service.
Do you service diesel fuel systems?
Yes. We service diesel fuel systems including high-pressure common rail injectors, diesel fuel/water separator replacement, EGR and intake cleaning, and diesel-specific fuel filter service. Diesel injectors operate at significantly higher pressure than gasoline injectors and require specialized equipment โ which we carry.
