Excavated Soil Haul-Off & Fill Delivery
Digging creates dirt that has to go somewhere, and building often requires dirt, rock or topsoil that has to come from somewhere. Moving soil is a trucking and logistics job with rules about what can be dumped and where. NorTech connects you with vetted licensed contractors who set their own price and keep the loads moving.

Estimating volume and truck loads
A cubic yard of soil weighs more than a ton, and a dump truck carries about ten to sixteen yards depending on type. Excavated soil expands as it is dug, so the hole you dig and the pile you haul are different volumes. The contractor measures the work, estimates loads and plans routes and timing. Tight access may require smaller trucks or more trips, which affects cost. Tell the contractor about overhead wires, narrow gates and soft ground, because they decide which trucks can reach the site and how many trips are needed.
Clean fill, contaminated soil and where it goes
Clean soil, free of trash and chemicals, can be taken to fill sites or reused, while contaminated soil must go to licensed facilities at higher cost. If you suspect old fuel tanks or industrial use, testing may be required. Receipts and tickets document where material went, which cities and lenders sometimes require. Importing fill also requires clean material, and the contractor can supply tickets from approved sources. Ask for dump tickets and fill tickets for every load, and keep them with your permit paperwork in case the city or lender requests proof.
Placement, compaction and neighbors
Fill spread under slabs and pads must be placed in thin layers and compacted, often with testing. Topsoil for lawns and gardens is spread and graded for drainage. Trucks track mud onto streets, so crews clean the roadway and keep dust down. Notify neighbors of truck traffic and arrange parking and access. Mark where soil should be spread and how thick, and request a rough grade check afterward so water drains away from structures. Confirm the delivery windows and who will be on site to direct trucks, so loads are placed where you want them.
