HOW THE PLATFORM WORKS
Platform standards, and why they exist
Every standard below protects a customer or a provider. None of them tells a provider how to do the work.
What NorTech is
NorTech is a platform that connects customers with independent providers. Providers set their own menus and prices, choose which services and areas they take, accept or decline any job, and run their own business. NorTech does not supervise the work and does not direct how a job is done.
The before photo
Before work starts, the platform suggests the provider photograph the area to be worked on and its surroundings. The photo is a record for both sides: it shows the customer the condition they handed over, and it protects the provider from a claim about damage that was already there. It is not a rule about how to work.
The start code
Each booking has a six-digit start code that the customer gives to the person at the door. It protects the customer: it confirms the person who arrived is the provider they booked. It says nothing about how or when the provider works.
Platform standards
The platform enforces its standards, the same way any marketplace does, so customers can trust who they book. Standards cover things like keeping required licenses and insurance current, honest profiles, safety, and not abandoning a job a provider accepted. Access can be limited for a documented breach of those standards. This is not supervision of the work.
Tools
The tools in the provider app measure and assist: they help a provider see their jobs, prices, reviews and earnings. NorTech rents no tools or equipment. A provider may list a charge for a specialty tool they bring, at their own price, and the customer decides whether to accept it before booking; a provider is never required to use any particular tool or method.
Fees
Customers pay a flat booking fee on top of the provider price, shown before they book. Providers pay a platform access fee, a percent of the labor price, for using the platform: customers finding them, secure payment, the guarantee, support and the app. A profile boost is an optional monthly add-on that puts a provider in front of more customers and is always labeled Featured.
Companies and crew
A company that adds crew members states that each is its W-2 employee and keeps its workers’ compensation policy on file. The company is the employer. NorTech is the platform the company uses to find and manage jobs.
